Beverage Bonanza is an economic simulation game designed to help students understand some basic concepts about economics through a simulated "real-world", hands-on learning experience. The student gets to be the owner of a lemonade and hot chocolate stand. In order to run this business they will need to make a number of business decisions such as: how many materials to purchase, how much product to make, and what price to sell the product at. The choices the student makes will affect how well she/he does in the game.
This program was written by a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher and his artistic (art teacher) wife. The program has been tested in my classroom, and I found it to be an excellent way to make complex economic concepts come alive for my students. Not only did the students learn a good deal from running the simulation, but they also enjoyed it. (It never hurts to have students actually enjoy something you do in class!)
Beverage Bonanza 1.0 requires a color-capable Macintosh* computer with a 12" screen, and HyperCard* 2.3. Contact the authors via e-mail for information on receiving stand-alone versions of the stacks that can run without HyperCard*. The memory allocation for HyperCard* should be set to at least 2200 K.

Beverage Bonanza is shareware, IT IS NOT FREE ! If you decide to use the program, you should register it and pay the shareware fee. The cost of registering Beverage Bonanza is $5.00 for a single copy, or $20.00 for a site license. Try to get that kind of value from a commercial software company! In order to register Beverage Bonanza, simply print, fill out, and send the registration form at the end of this "Read Me" file, along with your check, to the address indicated on the registration form.
